VLC for TV Box comes with a complete set of subtitle management tools that make it easy to watch foreign content or clarify dialogue in noisy environments. You can load external files, sync timing, or even search and download subtitles directly from the internet

Load External Subtitles (SRT / ASS / SSA)

VLC automatically detects subtitle files stored in the same folder as the video file. You can also manually load them from a USB drive or network source via the Subtitles → Add Subtitle File option.

VLC allows users to search for and download subtitles from online databases like OpenSubtitles.org directly from within the app. Just open Subtitles → Download Subtitles, enter the movie name, and select your preferred language.

Adjust Subtitle Timing on the Fly

If your subtitles appear too early or too late, VLC lets you adjust timing instantly during playback. Use the remote or keyboard shortcuts to synchronize dialogue with speech perfectly.

Subtitle Delay + : Press 'H' key (or Up on remote)
Subtitle Delay - : Press 'G' key (or Down on remote)

Subtitle Styling & Customization

  • Change font, size, and color of subtitles to improve readability.
  • Apply background opacity or drop shadows for better contrast.
  • Use position offset to move subtitles up or down on the screen.

Subtitle Tips

  • Keep your subtitle file name identical to the video name for auto-loading.
  • Download SRT files from trusted sites like Subscene or OpenSubtitles.
  • For multi-language media, use VLC’s built-in language detection for quick switching.

Note: VLC supports multiple subtitle formats including SRT, ASS, SSA, SUB, IDX, and WebVTT. You can also embed subtitles directly into MKV or MP4 containers for portable playback.
