Smart Playback Engine
VLC automatically selects the best decoding method — hardware or software — depending on your device’s GPU capability. This ensures stable frame rates and lower CPU usage during HD or 4K playback.
Advanced Playback Controls
VLC includes full playback control support — pause, resume, fast forward, slow motion, skip, and loop. Users can also customize playback speed (0.25×–4×) and apply video filters for brightness, contrast, and gamma.
Hardware Acceleration
Enabling hardware acceleration offloads decoding tasks to the device’s GPU, improving performance and battery life while reducing lag or stutter. You can toggle this feature from Settings → Video → Hardware Acceleration.
Aspect Ratio & Deinterlace Options
- Aspect Ratio: Choose from
Fit Screen,Fill,16:9,4:3, orCustom Zoom. - Crop Mode: Useful for removing black bars or resizing ultra-wide content.
- Deinterlace: Ideal for older TV recordings and interlaced videos, smoothing the playback quality.
Playback Shortcuts (TV Remote)
Play / Pause : Toggle playback Left / Right : Seek backward / forward (10s by default) Up / Down : Adjust volume OK / Enter : Show or hide on-screen controls Menu button : Open video settings overlay Rewind / FWD : 30s skip (hold for continuous seeking) Subtitles key : Quick subtitle toggle
Playback Tips for Better Experience
- Use hardware decoding for smoother performance with large video files.
- Enable resume playback to continue from where you left off automatically.
- For 4K or HEVC videos, disable unnecessary filters to maintain frame rate.
- Try double-tap gestures (if supported) for quick forward or backward jumps.
Note: VLC supports most common file formats — MP4, MKV, AVI, FLV, TS, M2TS, MOV, and even DVD ISOs. Always keep the app updated for new codec optimizations.
